Hey! I’m in a creative writing, race, and identity course at college this summer. For my final project, I want to do a zine with all sorts of creative writing (poetry, short stories, memoir, etc.) that contends with race, ethnicity, and identity.
All contributors will receive a free PDF that they can print out and distribute or just keep, whatever you want.
Again, I’m looking for these submission types by Wednesday, 25th of July, 2018:
Whatever you have, raw first draft or polished reprint, I’d be honored to display it to my class and maybe my local library. Email questions and pieces to xm1434uj [at] metrostate [dot] edu .
I've posted this CFS on Tumblr, Reddit (twice!), and Twitter, but I'm definitely worried I won't have enough contributors. Please spread the word!
Yesterday, I presented a paper at Metropolitan State University's Student Research Conference. (Two research conferences in as many years! That's incredible to me!)
My topic this time around was sexuality in video games, particularly main stream games, and how to change it for the better. I also won an award, which does wonders for the self-confidence.
This year, I want my research to be accessible without my notes. I've created a link to my paper presentation on Academia.edu.
Copied almost exactly from my call for submissions posted by queer-zines:
Hey, um, I’m still kicking around the idea of a zine anthology called I’m the President of a GSA–Now What? for teens and adults who are running/planning to run Gay-Straight Association and other queer support groups in schools/universities/community centers.
I’m looking for folx (both leaders/former leaders of GSAs and members as well as those familiar with group dynamics and running a club) to contribute:
I’m especially looking for a cover artist AND submissions from those in the crossroads of marginalized identities. File types preferred include PNG, JPEG/JPG, and doc/docx.
My tentative deadline is March 15th 2018. Please send any questions to my email readingliztening (at) gmail (dot) com!
